Lara Barth has been with Strozzi Institute since 2009 and is one of the lead teachers for Strozzi Institute and generative somatics. Lara specializes in working at the intersections of trauma healing and social justice, and maintains a small private practice in Oakland, California. She has taught the year-long Somatics and Trauma program since 2012 and leads embodied leadership courses with numerous partner organizations. Lara’s somatic work is informed by over a decade of experience in multilingual education and international organizing for human rights and environmental justice in the U.S., Guatemala and France. In addition to somatic teaching and practitionership, Lara is a community health educator who provides high quality, accessible healthcare for underserved communities throughout the Bay Area. Lara grew up in California and enjoys spending time with loved ones camping, cooking, and hiking.
