  • Know the embodied skills and emotional range needed to work effectively with healing trauma

Join a national leader in the field of Somatics, Staci K. Haines, as she invites you to deepen into working holistically with clients.

This course is ideal for certified somatic coaches with a minimum of 6 months – 1 year coaching OR are seasoned coaches who are ready for the next level of their coach skill development.

 
During this 4 day in-person event, you’ll:
  • Advanced pieces of the methodology focusing on individual and collective trauma
  • Somatic practices particularly in service of trauma healing
  • Somatic processes distinguishing emotional processing and catharsis
  • Observe Live Coaching Session with Staci followed by questions and answers
  • Collective practices relevant to healing collective trauma

We’re intentionally keeping this course limited to 28 coaches to foster an intimate environment ideal for authentic connection and embodied learning. You’ll receive individual guidance from senior teacher Staci K. Haines.

Prerequisite is the completion of Strozzi Institute Somatic Coaching Certification Program and 6 months + minimum of coaching experience. Certification is not a requirement.

Yes. Successful completion of Strozzi Institute’s  Somatic Coaching Certification Program and 6 months + minimum of coaching experience.

Please note, certification as a Somatic Coach is not required. ICF certification is not required for this program.

Hours can be submitted directly to ICF for resource development hours. Currently we are not offering any core competency hours through ICF for this program.  We do not offer general continued education units through any other CEC organization.

Our coaching programs are open to those wishing to work holistically with clients and develop their mastery of Somatic Coaching and embodied leadership.

This course is ideal for certified somatic coaches with a minimum of 6 months – 1  year coaching or are seasoned coaches who are ready for the next level of their coach skill development. 

Certification as a Somatic Coach is not required and ICF certification is not required for this program.

The Advanced Somatic Coaching Certification (ASC) is an 18-month, self-paced certification pathway for experienced and certified coaches looking for their next level in their professional somatic coach training. The Somatic Coaching Intensive is one of the three advanced courses included in the Advanced Somatic Coaching Certification pathway. No, the Somatic Coaching Intensive is a stand alone and advanced course and can be taken by anyone that has completed the Strozzi Institute’s Somatic Coaching Certification Program.



Somatic Coaching Intensive is offered at the Strozzi Institute dojo (which means “place of training” in traditional Japanese arts) located on a 13-acre ranch in the rolling hills of Petaluma, California.

Organic meals (with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options), sourced and prepared locally, are provided for lunches during all training days. Transportation and lodging are not included. See our recommended lodging options for our Petaluma location here.

At this time, the Somatic Coaching Certification Program is only available in English.

The Strozzi Institute scholarship program is a tuition reduction program with the highest amount awarded being a 40- 50% discount.

It is highly competitive, needs-based, and is focused on being the most effective. Therefore, it is prioritized to support traditionally marginalized communities with regard to race, sexual identity, and socioeconomics.

Scholarship applications can be submitted up until 8 weeks before the course date so please apply early. Applications are reviewed and awarded with the intention to make the biggest impact. Scholarship awards will be communicated via email 1 week after the close of the application process. Awards can not be used in conjunction with other discount offers or transferred to other coursework.

Meet Your Teachers

Staci K. Haines – Senior Teacher

is a national leader in the field of Somatics, specializing in intersecting personal and social change. Staci is the co-founder of generative somatics, a multiracial social justice organization bringing somatics to social and climate justice leaders and organizations. She specializes in Somatics and Trauma, and leads programs for healers, therapists, and social change leaders to transform the impact of individual and social trauma and violence. Her new book The Politics of Trauma: Somatics, Healing and Social Justice (North Atlantic Press 2019) is based on that work.

Staci is a senior teacher at Strozzi Institute and the Director of Methodology, having studied and worked with Strozzi Institute since 1995. She has worked extensively with organizational leaders, including corporate executives, non-profits, and social entrepreneurs.

Staci is the author of The Politics of Trauma: Somatics, Healing and Social Justice (North Atlantic Press 2019) and Healing Sex: A Mind Body Approach to Healing Sexual Trauma (Cleis 1999, 2007). Healing Sex has been nationally recognized and translated into German, Japanese and Spanish. Lastly, Staci is the founder of generationFIVE, a community leadership organization whose mission is to end the sexual abuse of children within five generations.

 

Erika Lyla

is a Somatic Coach and Bodyworker with a practice in Oakland, CA (unceded Ohlone territory), and also teaches with generative somatics and Strozzi Institute. Erika works with people to reveal their power, potential, and purpose. She guides with love and laughter towards life grounded in authenticity and shaped by dream. She has been training groups and individuals in social and emotional development as well as creating and launching social emotional programs for over 15 years. Erika holds a Master’s Degree in Social Welfare from UC Berkeley and specializes in working with people facing psychiatric crises, survivors of sexual violence, and individuals healing from complex trauma. She has also worked with school age children as an after school teacher and program director. She continues to offer healing for individuals and communities as we collectively move towards liberation. In her free time, Erika loves family time, camping, snowboarding, hiking, paddle boarding, and delicious food.

 

Namiko Uno

(she/they) is a a politicized somatic coach and somatic bodyworker. They are passionate about healing trauma through the body, building more equitable and just futures, and living a joyful life in service to Spirit. Namiko identifies as a bi-racial, cis gender, queer woman of color, with white-passing and currently able-bodied privileges living on unceded Ohlone land (Oakland, California). Namiko’s personal and professional lineages hold many contradictions, she seeks to hold these complexities with skill and compassion.

Namiko is a certified somatic coach through Strozzi Institute and the International Coaching Federation. She is on the teaching team at Strozzi Institute, and holds a MA in Global Development & Gender Studies, a BS in Communication, Ethnic Studies, and Psychology, and is a 300-hr RYT in hatha, restorative yoga, yin yoga, and yoga nidra traditions. Prior to walking an intentional path of somatics, Namiko worked at the intersection of the arts & social justice organizing, produced international leadership conferences, and led coaching initiatives at mental health startups.

In addition to coaching and teaching somatics, you can find Namiko practicing qigong, studying reiki, communing with the trees, swimming in a body of water, dancing with loved ones, organizing a community healing event, befriending a random dog, and doing absolutely nothing.
