Dear Leader,
You can probably think of someone you’ve met who just had leadership—in their bones. You could tell it by the way everyone looked to them, how they showed up for others and made the impossible happen, and even just how their presence in the room had you trust them.

We have a name for that kind of person. We call them an embodied leader

An embodied leader:
  • stays present, open and curious under pressure.
  • can be responsive and not reactive.
  • remain in touch with their broader purpose and vision.
  • Aligns their actions with their values as a role model and inspiration to their team.

At Strozzi Institute for Somatics, we have spent over 50 years developing a methodology of teaching embodied leadership, but until very recently, we have never had a way to measure it.

Now we do.

The Embodied Leadership Assessment - 4 (ELA-4) is the product of a collaboration between psychometric research expert Kevin Coray, methodology co-designer Staci Haines, and institute founder Richard Strozzi-Heckler. The ELA-4 is a unique, reliable and statistically-normed and calibrated instrument that measures embodied leadership ability.

When you take the ELA-4, you get immediate insight into:
  • Your Percentile Rank so you know where your capabilities lie relative to your peers
  • Your Leadership Performance, so you understand how each of the four measured skills helps you achieve your goals
  • The Perception others have of you, so you can learn why they respond (or don’t) to your leadership
  • Ways to Take Action right away, so you can become the leader you need to be

The assessment and full report are completely free of charge—there are no hidden costs.

Take this groundbreaking assessment today and discover exactly how you compare to other leaders, and how you can improve.

Warmly,

Team Strozzi

Your ELA-4 Will Measure:
1. Your Skill at Connected Leadership
This is your capacity to lead in ways that support others toward their goals.

Are you curious about and do you discuss with others what they care about? Do you ask others for support in meeting your commitments? How well do you attend to the dignity, sense of belonging and safety, and purpose of your group, while also attending to growth, challenge and conflict?

If you…
  • have a highly reactive, perpetually triggered team always pushing each other's buttons…
  • feel like everything is on your shoulders and are getting burnt out…
  • are “lonely at the top,” and feeling resentful...
  • have difficulty making high-quality decisions, and your outcomes are suffering
  • get feedback that you’re unconsciously reinforcing inequitable power dynamics with how you lead…

2. Your skill at Generative Feedback
Is giving feedback a dry, chore-like activity you have to do every so often, or an opportunity to open the door for growth that allows both giver and recipient to arrive at a higher level? Are you able to develop a culture within your group that invites feedback based on what the team and each member cares about? Does your culture of feedback uplift and challenge your team and organization toward connection and effective action?

If you find yourself…
  • hurting feelings with well-intentioned advice that goes sideways…
  • struggling to build trust and connection with your team so you can finally cohere…
  • wishing others would just grow up so you didn’t have to tell them how to do it…
  • putting off difficult conversations indefinitely to the point your team notices…

Then you should take a look at your Generative Feedback score.

3. Your skill at Centering in Chaos
This tells you how well you remain responsive to your own and others’ needs under stress. It also indicates how capable you are of keeping everyone’s attention on the bigger vision and goals. Are you able to notice how you and others are affected by chaos, without covering it up or plowing through it?

If you notice that…
  • You’re having difficulty meeting your responsibilities because of all the incoming demands…
  • You feel particularly ineffective at managing change
  • People don’t seem to trust you in complex situations…
  • Your team is working around you to move forward…

4. Your skill at Reading Others
This is your ability to see beyond the surface to what is embodied in others. Reading Others is a critical somatic skill that shows you a deeper dimension of each member of your team.

Do you notice when there is a gap between what someone’s words say, and what their body communicates? And if you do notice a gap, can you dignify it while also encouraging growth and development?

If you…
  • have been caught off-guard and surprised by feedback from your team recently…
  • often feel frustrated because people don’t react how you expect…
  • find it challenging to meet others where they’re at so you can bring them along to where they need to be…
  • experience an unexpected amount of conflict with your team that makes it impossible to get anything done…
