Declaring a New Future
Using the Three Pillars of Strozzi Somatics to Reclaim Your Power, Embody Your Values, and Follow Your Longing
A Special 9-week Online Training for Embodied Transformation
with Staci Haines, Iman Boundaoui, and Richard Strozzi-Heckler

hello,
As we emerge from a time of great uncertainty, we’re beginning to realize that we are no longer returning to the way things were before…even if the familiar rhythms of life slowly come back out of quarantine, we are not the same.
Because you are purposeful and intentional about the way you live, you know something is changing.
Somatics asks,
What are you practicing right now, in your body, in this moment?
…and is it aligned with what really matters to you?
Deep inside, we all feel a longing to move toward what matters to us, personally, socially, and globally. Perhaps in your chest, you feel warmth; an expanding sensation that fills you while it pulls you out of yourself—or a fragile, glimmering spark that opens your heart to a world more spacious than your current reality.
This is the embodied sensation of longing, drawing you toward a new future that you are meant to bring into being. And you feel the tug strongest when you are in touch with what you care about most.
We are very pleased to present our all-new online somatics program: Declaring a New Future: A 9-week Online Training for Embodied Transformation. This course is designed to help you practice what you most care about in each moment and build your somatic capacity to fulfill your longings, so you can declare a new future for yourself, your community and the world.
Taught in six self-paced video modules with founder Richard Strozzi-Heckler and Senior Teacher Staci Haines, six live and interactive calls with Staci Haines and Iman Boundaoui, and three small-group coaching sessions with certified Strozzi Institute Somatic Coaches, Declaring a New Future is the most comprehensive somatics training we have ever offered online.
Over the course of nine weeks, you will:
⮞ Emerge from the course with a clear declaration of what you want to do next, and a clear path for that to be more than just another good intention
⮞ Expand your ability to be present with what is so you can purposefully transform toward possibility for the future
⮞ Discover a deeper sense of what matters most to you—and the future you want to build for yourself, your community, and the collective—so that you always have something to change toward with your powerful, embodied “YES”
⮞ Practice returning to center continually to stay calm and effective even under mounting pressure, so that you can face all of your old and new challenges with resilience
⮞ Awaken your body to feel more and tap into the depth of your inner resource to handle all that comes with feeling more—including feeling more joy and love
This work will surprise you.
You will know you’ve succeeded when you find yourself under the same old pressures, and somehow, you realize you can choose to respond differently than ever before.
A global community is forming now around Declaring a New Future. When you join, you will instantly be a part of a cohort of embodiment practitioners who will support you through the hard work of transformation and celebrate your success. You will get direct access to our teachers and be guided in small groups by certified coaches to ensure you stay on track.
So follow your yearning. Stop running on empty. Be accountable to your higher purpose. Get feeling again, and reclaim the choices, possibilities, and future that await you, all aligned with your deepest values.
You are powerful, worthy, and needed.
Join us today.
Warmly,
Staci K. Haines
Iman Boundaoui
Richard Strozzi-Heckler &
Team Strozzi
The ribs swell, expanding your shape with a deep inbreath…
There’s a sweet ache, a rhythmic pulse that forms in your heart and then flows outward…
Our aliveness tugs at us from the inside, and eventually it will tug loud enough for us to listen and do something.
— Richard Strozzi-Heckler
Declarations Are How Words Change Lives
A Somatic Declaration is your embodied commitment to a life-affirming future. It is a clear statement you make about a vision, a meaningful desire, or even a longing you have. It is about imagining positive futures, and creating a practice that will bring those futures about. To declare a new future, you imagine and speak your declaration, and then take action to bring your longings into the world, into your life.
In Strozzi Somatics, we use a statement that begins, “I am a commitment to…” to activate our embodied sense of identity with the future we are declaring into being. For example:
I am a commitment to finish writing my book by the end of the year

I am a commitment to leading my community through the crisis we are facing

I am a commitment to being fully myself and becoming more present in my life

I am a commitment to align with my higher purpose and inner truth and to stand for that every day, even in the face of adversity

Making a declaration supported by the three pillars of Strozzi somatics—awareness, practices and openings—is how we create the future we long for in the way most aligned with our values.
The Heart of Embodied Transformation:
More Choices, New Habits

What is deeply embodied makes our decisions, often unconsciously. We all have automatic reactions that come out under pressure that were formed through our life experiences.
With practice, we can open up the space around those reactions to feel the different ways we can choose to respond.
Choice follows awareness.

Eventually, new choices lead to new action. And when we practice those new actions, we build new habits right into our muscle tissue.
Practice builds habits.
Embodied transformation aligns our habits with our values. Because unfortunately, most of us inadvertently embody values or social norms we don’t believe in…and often don’t embody the values we do believe in.
From a somatic vantage point, this is completely understandable—and there is a lot we can do about it. In Declaring a New Future, you will learn how this works and how you can uproot and transform habits that no longer serve you.

Declare a New Future
with the Three Pillars of Strozzi Somatics:
Awareness, Practices, and Openings
Somatic Awareness
Somatic Awareness and embodiment (living inside your own skin, body and aliveness) grows more choice in our responses and actions because they give you vital information in real time. Somatic awareness often re-introduces us to what we most care about, and helps us craft the declarations that will bring us into a new future.
Somatic Practices
Somatic Practices help to build new skills and competencies that are relevant to what we care about. New skills are developed somatically so that they become more than good ideas—they become natural actions and habits at the level of muscle memory. Somatic practices allow us to begin to build a “new shape” aligned with our values and politics—which is essential to fulfilling a declaration.
Somatic Openings
Somatic Openings work through the body to access and transform survival reactions, experiences that have shaped us, and emotions or numbing that has become automatic. Our bodies tell stories. Our muscles hold memories. Somatic opening allows us to listen to and transform these stories, thus opening to the new future we aim to create.
When you make a declaration supported by these three pillars, understood in your social context, that declaration will change lives.

Iman Boundaoui
Iman Nacer Boundaoui is a somatic practitioner and facilitator with a deep commitment to working with individuals and communities to heal and transform collective, intergenerational and politicized trauma. As a practitioner, she grounds in her indigenous North African cultural and spiritual wisdom lineages, and draws from traditional African-Sufi healing and embodiment practices, which she resources from in her own life and healing.
Iman is also an attorney and has practiced as a social-impact litigator, civil rights litigator and immigrant rights activist and organizer, working with individuals, communities and social justice organizations to curb the impact of state-sponsored discrimination and corrosive profit-driven corporate behavior and policy.
Her experiences working with law and policy to defend human life and dignity led Iman to seek out alternative pathways to working with individuals and communities in their fight for safety, dignity and belonging. After a few years of training with the Strozzi Institute as a practitioner, she is now a teacher at SI, where she continues the fight for wholeness and justice that she began years ago as a lawyer. When she’s not reading, writing, thinking about, or facilitating embodied transformation and healing work, you can find her hiking and foraging for wild herbs in the Santa Cruz mountains, a place she currently calls home that closely resembles her ancestral homeland in the Atlas Mountains.

Testimonials
"This course was exactly what I needed. I am beginning a new leadership position. I feel as if I have received new tools, re-membered old tools that I can use and am letting go of some actions that this course has helped me to evaluate and begin to let go of."
"Prior to this course, I had a vague awareness of my Conditioned Tendencies...I could name them. During and after this course, I was struck by the clarity, overtness, and deep understanding I gained about my CTs. I was also able to dig deep and access a presence of dignity and direction about what my purpose and desires are. I noticed a change in my shape and how I interacted with my family, friends, and colleagues immediately."
"I loved it! The course was very well structured and I appreciated the opportunity to learn such effective somatic practices with such depth. I learned so much about myself and about being in community."
"In my experience, it's unusual to come across a class that takes its participants so deep while holding such a clear container. There was an abundance and diversity of support, which, to me, appeared as students being able to stay engaged."
"The course offered so many practices that felt actionable and I've already been able to integrate them into my life. The teachers held us with such care and presence. I am moving forward feeling more courageous, embodied, and in my dignity."
"It was a catalyst for a change I’ve been wanting to make for sometime, but never took the time to dig deep and listen to more than my busy mind. Embodied Transformation gave me the tools to confidently make the changes."
"Embodied Transformation was the healing workshop I needed at the perfect time on my path of spiritual, career, and personal development in a chaotic world that needs care and awareness. I am deeply grateful for this engaging alternative to therapy that will help deepen my meditation practice while being devoted to self and relational regulation. This is exactly what I need to work on to move forward with my life."
"Truly Transformational in that it opened up new possibilities. Therapy and coaching primed me for this experience. So did the last 38 years of life. At the right time, and right place, with the right people- I see new openings."
"The program was exactly what I needed. I have been moving throughout my life in my head and the program was helpful in getting me to move more into my body. "
"This course was truly transformational. I arrived at a crossroads ready to change the course of my career and left with a clearer understanding of where I want to go next and the tools and support to take with me on the journey."
"There is so much to unpack, I don't know where to start. I appreciate the container that was created. It allowed for personal breakthroughs and deep learning, while not producing harm to others. That is rare."
"I feel renewed, transformed, hopeful and inspired! The first day I walked away going, whoa! I am in the right space for what I need in my life."
"Raw, vulnerable, heart opening and heart centered workshop. Facilitation was masterful and curriculums thoughtful, thorough and representative of the current social climate."
"The course was very grounding. I felt very supported as I explored and practiced healthier boundaries, and translated into my personal and professional lives in unexpected ways."
"The embodied transformation methodology of this course offered me a different level of awareness and opening in some areas I have been working on for a while, but with the feeling that I was not making much progress. The curriculum and exercises allowed me to experience interesting somatic insights to work faster and deeper on these areas and discover new ones I want to transform"
"This was a really powerful introduction to somatics. I left feeling excited about the possibility of tapping into the wisdom of my body and eager to begin incorporating some of the practices we learned into my daily life."

We get it. It sounds rather strange to offer an embodiment course in a non-physical space. However, the pandemic taught us that virtual workshops are actually very effective! And they make courses like this more accessible to a diverse, global audience.
Embodiment work is a practice. Just like you wouldn’t go to one yoga class and be “done,” you keep going to practice, gain insights, and learn more techniques. Richard always starts his martial arts classes with the very first move he learned in Aikido. Students get to see that they’ve changed, and also the way it was presented before has changed. We are always evolving.
The soma is the doorway for sustainable transformation. Mental or informational learning tends to only change insight, and can be a form of spiritual bypass. Embodied practices lead to deep change in the self in the form of new actions you can take in alignment with your values, new choices available to you that you didn’t know were there, and the embodied synthesis of language, spirit, and body.
We acknowledge that leaning into change is scary, and it is hard to leave old ways of being behind. However, if you are asking this question, that is a sign that deep down you know that change is necessary. Waiting will only prolong the work you know you need to do. The best place to begin is within a supportive community. Start with getting guidance on your declaration, and then discover the small steps you can take to begin your transformation. Getting going is easier than you think!
Somatics helps you deal with the instability and rapid changes happening around us by giving you more resource to face it all. The world needs you — the best version of you — for these times. This course will help you clarify your purpose in the midst of confusion, focus on meaningful action to conserve your energy, and create knowing, grounding, and centering within for more peace.
Absolutely not. This course is for people just starting to clarify their purpose, as well as people who have been on their path for decades. We all learn from each other. The fact is, the global forces of dis-embodiment—the click-bait news machine, your stress at work, rising political tensions, systemic injustices—just to name a few are all trying to keep you from declaring your new future by pressuring you to conform and keep numb. We are here to advocate for you being in your body more. If you are attracted to an embodied way of being and want to follow it, here is the perfect place to begin: sign up now.
