Each year, Richard Strozzi-Heckler guides advanced students in a special exploration of somatic theory and practice. This year’s theme is "The Unbounded State” which occurs when we have a somatic opening as we move through the Arc of Somatic Transformation. It's the moment when our historical way of organizing ourselves is interrupted and we have not yet reached a new, embodied shape.
During this stage, the customary somatic markers we have embodied that tell us who we are, how we respond to life, and what is important to us have been deconstructed. We are faced with an existential dilemma around meaning, identity, and purpose. We may feel helplessly adrift and directionless.
In Cultivating Mastery, we will explore what it means to open to the “Unbounded State” so that it will move us into an internal depth as well as depth in our living. Through conversations, somatic practices, and reflecting on our personal and clients' experiences, we will engage with this stage as an integral part of awakening and cultivating a fulfilling life. The questions of intimacy, vulnerability, the non-dual self, and generosity will be signposts for our exploration.
